DOW THEORY BUY/SELL and HOW to SPOT a BEAUTIFUL BOTTOM??

First from NORMAN off RR board and then MY FOLLOWUP
Transport confirmation of DJI valid? Downside confirmation occurred on Oct 09 2002, the low in the dow. According to Dow theory market should have tanked. But as you can see from reviewing RRs ramarks pessimism was rampant and that put in the bottom. Is the opposite the case now, ie are we close to a top?OCTOBER 9 2002 REMARKSTODAY'S MARKET ACTION -- The D-J Transportation Average broke below its September 2001 low today. In doing so, it confirmed the prior bearish action of the Industrials. Under Dow Theory, the twin penetrations reconfirm the primary bear trend. The bear market is still very much in force.October 12, 2002 -- I've been doing a lot of thinking (what else is new?). In fact, I woke up at 2AM Saturday morning, and I realized that something was bothering me. What could be bothering me? You guessed it, the stock market and the action of the market last week.----Last week the Transports, after resisting for months, finally confirmed the Industrials by breaking to new lows below their September lows. Last week my PTI broke below its preceding July low.------And I wondered -- is it time for the bear to do a bit of double-crossing? My answer -- it could be, it just could be.-----
